Ongoing maintenance and preservation of your outdoor lighting investment
Lighthouse Legacy Care | Outdoor Lighting Maintenance Services
Your outdoor lighting system is an integral part of the architectural and landscape upgrades that enhance your home’s experience after dark. Whether you want to show off a beautiful landscape design or brighten outdoor living spaces, outdoor lighting is a big part of your home’s curb appeal.
That said, keeping your outdoor lighting fixtures in peak condition requires some effort. Left to themselves, they will eventually fall into disrepair from the ravages of weather and UV radiation, and the once beautiful illumination you had at the beginning will be diminished or lost.
To counteract this effect and protect the value and integrity of your new outdoor lighting system, Lighthouse is pleased to offer our valued clients an easy way to ensure timely outdoor lighting maintenance. Our Preventive Maintenance Program ensures that your home and property lighting design remain beautiful and safe in the dark hours of the night.
When Does Exterior Lighting Maintenance Need to Be Done?
For most systems, we recommend conducting Preventive Maintenance visits twice annually, once in the spring and again in late summer. For Estates, larger systems, and commercial properties, quarterly Preventive Maintenance is recommended.
For small systems, often once seasonally will suffice in the early spring. Our preventive maintenance consists of a 7-point inspection and adjustment, which covers the following system components:

The Importance of Landscape Lighting Maintenance
Despite its benefits, outdoor lighting systems are not set-and-forget. Skipping that maintenance check can lead to reduced efficiency, unexpected failures, and higher long-term costs.
1. Prolongs System Lifespan
Outdoor lighting systems are exposed to harsh weather conditions, including rain, wind, and UV rays. Over time, these elements can cause wear and tear on light fixtures, cables, and lamps. Routine maintenance ensures these components are inspected, cleaned, and repaired as needed, extending their lifespan.
2. Maintains Aesthetic Quality
Dirty or misaligned light fixtures can dim the intended glow of your lighting. Without regular maintenance, plants or structures may obstruct beams, diminishing the overall effect. Regular cleaning and adjustments keep your lighting looking as impressive as the day it was installed.
3. Prevents Costly Repairs
Minor issues, such as loose connections or failing bulbs, can lead to bigger problems if ignored. Routine inspections catch these issues early, preventing them from escalating into costly exterior lighting repairs or replacements.
4. Ensures Energy Efficiency
Modern outdoor lighting systems often rely on LED technology, which is energy-efficient and long-lasting. However, poorly maintained systems can compromise efficiency, driving up energy costs. Regular care ensures all components are functioning optimally, saving you money over time.
5. Enhances Safety
Faulty wiring, exposed cables, or malfunctioning light fixtures can pose safety hazards. Regular maintenance ensures your system remains safe for family, pets, and guests, giving you peace of mind.
