SPECIALIZED OUTDOOR LIGHTING DESIGN SERVICES

Lighthouse Design Studio is a specialized division of the The Lighthouse Group which focuses specifically upon lighting design for all outdoor spaces beyond the four walls.  This division is staffed with seasoned lighting designers who have all been in the landscape lighting industry for decades each and have a deep knowledge of lighting design and how our illuminated creations impact the human experience of these outdoor spaces after dark.  All of our Design Studio designers hold certifications through the AOLP (Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals) and are illi (International Landscape Lighting Institute – Janet Lenox Moyer) Intensive Course Graduates and current illi mentors for the organization, teaching the next generation of lighting designers around the country this exquisite art.  

Truly remarkable and award-winning lighting design cannot be “mastered” in a few hours of university lecture time or over a quick lunch and learn from a lighting vendor.  Path Lights on walkways and random lights pointing at trees is not lighting design, its just task lighting.  To master artistic outdoor lighting design takes decades of field work and thousands of hours and hundreds of long nights aiming and fine-tuning lighting compositions in the dark to truly gain “night eyes”.  This is the ability to pre-visualize all the possibilities of a site when walking onto it for the first time or looking at a set of plans or elevations drawn up by a landscape or building architect.  LHDS was created to be a resource and partner for those design professionals who truly realize the specialty of this craft as well as their own limitations, and want to partner with a group of designers who can bring this level of art to their landscape and architectural designs and in return,  give their valued clients a truly remarkable end product that will be appreciated by day and night.
